Fronteers — vakvereniging voor front-end developers

On September 11th and 12th, the Fronteers 2008 conference took place in Pakhuis De Zwijger in Amsterdam. This conference, organised for front-end engineers by front-end engineers, focused narrowly on CSS and JavaScript.

We were lucky enough to have bagged quite a few excellent speakers. The intrincacies of JavaScript were explained by Dean Edwards, Stuart Langridge, Chris Heilmann and Tom Occhino of MooTools, while co-inventor Bert Bos, Stephen Hay and Andy Clarke gave us some food for CSS thought. Finally, Pete LePage of the MSIE team discussed the latest beta release of IE8.

We asked all speakers to dig deep into one narrowly defined topic of their choice. Therefore the Fronteers 2008 sessions had a highly technical bend and discussed advanced tips and tricks.

In addition to the regular sessions we wanted to give attendees the option of chatting with the speakers and other specialists in a semi-official setting. That's why Fronteers 2008 also included smaller sessions, where a panel of specialists took questions from the audience and discussed JavaScript, CSS, accessibility issues, the Dutch Web Guidelines and other topics near and dear to the hearts of front-end engineers.

Most presentations and slides can be found on this website.

Fronteers 2008 was a huge success, thanks to all speakers, sponsors and volunteers who helped out during this event. Fronteers 2009, here we come!
