Online meetup met Rachel Andrew en Darice de Cuba (English version below)
Op vrijdag 19 juni verzorgen we onze eerste online Fronteers meetup. Deze is voor iedereen (lid of geen lid) vanuit huis te volgen. Deelname is gratis.
Voorafgaand aan de meetup, die om 20:00 begint, geeft Rachel Andrew (vertegenwoordiger namens Fronteers bij het W3C) een mini-workshop 'Short guide to reading a CSS Specification'. Rachel laat je in een uur zien hoe je een CSS specificatie leest. Na deze introductie zijn deze soms onvriendelijk ogende documenten een stuk minder intimiderend!
Henri Helvetica doet dienst als onze gastheer. Hij zal onze sprekers aankondigen.
De live-stream is voor ons de eerste keer, en als deze meetup goed verloopt volgen er mogelijk meer!
De meetup is geheel Engelstalig. Voor ondertiteling wilden we gebruik maken van we automatische ondertiteling van Google/Youtube en deze naderhand corrigeren, maar helaas bleek deze niet te werken (waarschijnlijk omdat de feature niet ondersteund wordt op ons kanaal). Helaas lukte het ons op korte termijn ook niet om een live talk in te schakelen.
Wanneer de livestream is gestopt zullen we door een externe partij ondertiteling regelen en de video zo snel mogelijk herplaatsen op onze Vimeo account.

Wanneer mensen het hebben over accessibility, hebben ze het vaak over het toegankelijk maken van websites voor het gebruik van screenreaders (Hoi, ARIA!), letten op kleurcontrast en het controleren dat je een website met enkel je toetsenbord kunt bedienen. In deze presentatie geeft Darice je een ander perspectief op accessibility. Een 100% 'accessible' score halen in testprogramma's of automatische audits betekent namelijk nog niet dat iedereen er gebruik van kan maken... |

Friday June 19th we will host our very first online Fronteers meetup, open to everyone (members and non-members).
Before the meetup part of the event, Rachel Andrew will be hosting a one-hour 'short guide to reading a CSS Specification' workshop. In this hour, Rachel will give an overview of how to approach reading a CSS specification, with the aim of making these rather unfriendly looking documents more approachable.
Henri Helvetica will be our evening's master of ceremonies.
Darice de Cuba and Rachel Andrew will each be presenting a short talk (see the schedule for a description!).
This will be our first time live-streaming, and if it goes well, we might organise more of these events!
The meetup will be completely in English.
For subtitling, we wanted to use the automatic live captioning of Youtube, and correct this afterwards, but unfortunately it seems to not work for our Youtube channel. Despite our best efforts we were unable to find a live interpreter at such short notice. As such we will not be able to offer subtitles on the live stream, but we will have the video captioned and posted (with professional captions) to our Vimeo channel.

In this talk, Darice will give you a different perspective on accessibility. Because an automated audit can give you a 100% 'accessible' rating, but that does not mean the website is usable for everyone! |
