Job opening: Web developer at Compare Group (Freelance or Permanent)

Compare Group exploits several leading price and product comparison websites in Europe, including Vergelijk.nl, Vergelijk.be, Comparer.be, Elcheapo.nl and Vertaa.fi. We plan to expand to other European countries in the near future. The mission of Compare Group is to help consumers find the best possible purchase. To further strengthen the IT department of Compare Group, we are looking for a Web developer (40hrs)
The Position
Cumulating at least 2 years of experience in web development combined with a real passion, you will be responsible for making front-end improvements and fine tunings to our websites.
You will enhance our 3.5 million monthly visitors browsing experience, applying your skills in the fine arts of HTML, CSS and JavaScript to make things of beauty.
You love investigating and implementing new and cool technologies and finding out where they can be applied to make our sites work, look and feel great to our users
You will be embraced by a highly international Scrum team consisting of very skilled developers and a strong tester. Your role in this team will be to cooperate closely with our Product Manager and build great new features for our websites.
This position implies:
- 80% technical tasks
- 10% research tasks
- 10% usability / interaction design tasks
Your home base is the head office in Utrecht, the Netherlands (next-door to the Central Station).
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Receive improvement briefing from our Product Manager
- Combine a mockup skeleton and a global design into working functionality
- Investigate and introduce new and cool technologies on our websites.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor or Master degree, preferably in IT/technical
- A minimum of 3 years working experience in a commercial organization
- Combine user sensitivity and technical knowledge
- Experience in (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, XML, DHTML
- Usage of Photoshop to prototype new functionalities
- Fluent in English. Skill in other European languages is very much appreciated.
