Meetup bij Kunstmaan over Elm en browser-API's op donderdag 22 juni 2017
We did it! Op 22 juni 2017 zal het 555 dagen geleden zijn sinds de laatste Fronteers meetup in België. Hiermee verbreken we het record van 541 dagen zonder Belgische regering na de verkiezingen van 13 juni 2010.
Sinds 2010 waren er maar liefsts 30 meetups bij 23 verschillende bedrijven in België. Met dit record is het opnieuw de hoogste tijd om de front-end developers van achter hun scherm weg te halen.
Op donderdag 22 juni 2017 vliegt Fronteers België er terug in met een eerste meetup bij Kunstmaan in Leuven. We hebben twee Engelstalige talks door Ilias Van Peer en Sam Bellen. De bijeenkomst is gratis voor leden en niet-leden, en we zorgen voor iets lekkers te eten!

Talk 1: Elm, a delightful language.
A programming language is more than just a language. Besides just the core language and its design, there are many more aspects that, together, define our perception of a programming language. In this talk, we’ll have a look at Elm, a purely functional language for the web. Examining the language design, the tooling, ecosystem and community, we’ll discover why Elm can rightfully describe itself as a delightful language for reliable web apps.

Talk 2: I didn't know the browser could do that!
The times when a browser simply had to parse and show some markup are long gone. These days they are full of interesting api’s exposing various information and behaviour to web developers. This talk will walk you through a few of these api’s, some of which you might know, some maybe not. I will show a quick example of what some of these api’s can do, and how to use them.
