Lightning talks
Tailwind ain't so bad… — Sanne Peters
There are only three kinds of people in the world: people who like Tailwind, people who don't care, and people who wake up in the morning, drink their beverage of preference, go into the Fronteers chat and proclaim their hatred for Tailwind. Sanne will try to convince the last two groups that Tailwind ain't so bad.
Sanne studied bio-engineering and bio-informatics, but soon rolled into front-end development, information design and design systems — and has been doing that since 2008. Her love for science, math and complexity runs through everything she does, from data visualisations to dashboard design and generative concepts. Off the clock she grows trees, makes bonsai and paints.
Why your UI works with a mouse but fails with a keyboard — Nisha Patil
We design UIs for a "default user" — just like products labelled "right-hand only." That's why apps work with a mouse but break with a keyboard. Try using Tab, Enter and Escape alone and you'll see what we silently exclude. Keyboard accessibility improves usability for everyone.
Nisha is a Test Automation Engineer with a focus on accessibility. She acts as a thought leader for accessibility in her testing practice — running workshops and presentations to help teams build more inclusive digital products.
Form guy — Daan Bouws
Forms no longer have to be boring to be WCAG-compliant. Front-end development and game development come together in the new HTML-in-Canvas feature in Chrome Canary, which lets you render a little character inside your form that follows your focus as you navigate through the fields.
Daan is a full-stack developer at Capgemini with a background in robotics and e-commerce. He currently works in the public sector and is a big advocate of test-driven development and continuous delivery.
Mamma Mia, It's Instant! Mastering the Speculation Rules API — Rowdy Rabouw
What if your site could finish loading the next page before the user even decides to click? Rowdy tackles navigation latency with the Speculation Rules API — prefetching and prerendering for near-instant page loads. In 10 minutes you'll learn the cheat codes for anticipating user intent.
Rowdy Rabouw is a Google Developer Expert in Web Technologies with 30 years of experience in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. He works as a front-end-focused Senior DevOps Engineer on Vue, Node and NestJS projects, with a focus on usability and accessibility.
Real-Time Image Processing in the Browser — Mohamad Shiralizadeh
Build fast, private and interactive image processing apps right in the browser. Using TensorFlow.js and modern Web APIs, you can run AI models client-side with zero server round-trips.
Mohamad is a passionate developer focused on engineering technologies aligned with the latest trends. He currently works at ING and enjoys speaking at conferences, contributing to open source and helping people in communities.
Deploying professional full stack AI powered webapps with the V0, Next.js, React and Vercel tech stack — Rik van der Sar
Building and deploying modern, production-ready web applications with V0 for UI creation, React and Next.js as the foundation, and Vercel for fast, scalable deployments — from concept to global production.
Rik is a front-end developer with about four years of experience, focused on React, Next.js and the Vercel tech stack.
